Childrens Performing Theatre is a preforming arts composition of information for young people of all ages from 4 – 18. We gather and give you information on many kinds of performing arts opportunities for young people all over the country. We are committed to educating youth in all aspects of theatre performance, management, and production, including acting, directing, script writing, costume and set design as well as management. Since its founding in 2003, CPT has become a leading resource for children’s theaters around the country.
Every year Childrens Performing Theatre takes shows across the country to entertain and educate children in schools. We do improvisation-ally based shows with our actors interacting with children to teach new skills in theatre arts. At our home base we also offers theatre classes and perform full length productions for people of all ages in our community. Each performance of Childrens Performing Theatre is unique and designed both the educate and entertain. We think that children learn best when they are engaged in their topic. Throughout the year our students are involved in learning drama, vocal technique and are involved in specialty classes as well, such as theatre makeup, auditioning techniques, improvisation, and more. Students are given the opportunity to prepare audition pieces for audition and perform short plays on stage, or work in production or crew backstage in a variety of technical roles. In our summer sessions we prepare, perform and publicize two productions in our two week camps. The students become the Assistant Directors, camp teachers, and artistic designers.
We also provide in depth training in improvisation for children. We believe this develops skills that go beyond the stage and into life. We are committed to fostering a new generation of theatre artists and community leaders through learning leadership and creative abilities that theatre provides so well.
Some of our productions include:
Blather, Blarney and Balderdash
